The Carraway

Some pieces begin with a place. The Carraway began with a person.

Inspired by my trickster “brother” Chris, The Carraway is my interpretation of the traditional makau, or fishhook form. The sweeping sterling-silver spiral curls inward before terminating in a sharp hook, giving the piece a sense of movement that changes depending on how the light catches it.

A wrapped-wire detail near the top adds texture against the high-polished silver, while the open center keeps what could have been a heavy design feeling fluid and balanced. It's substantial enough to make a statement without losing the organic character of the hook that inspired it.

The name is personal. Like the person behind it, The Carraway has a little mischief built into it.
