Bring Your Own Tie Dye (Ages 8+)

Service Description

Bring your own cotton item and get ready to twist, fold, dye, and create something completely one-of-a-kind. In this 90-minute hands-on class, students will learn the basics of successful tie-dye using professional fiber-reactive dyes from Dharma Trading. The first part of class will focus on learning three beginner-friendly folding techniques that create bold, colorful results. After practicing the folds, students will pair up and work as a team to fold and secure their shirts or fabric items. Working together helps create a tighter fold, which leads to cleaner patterns, stronger contrast, and better dye results. After a short break, students will gear up with gloves and begin applying dye to their pieces. We’ll cover basic color placement, saturation, and tips for getting vibrant, long-lasting results. At the end of class, students will take their dyed items home safely sealed in Ziploc bags, along with a take-home rinse kit that includes washing instructions, gloves for rinsing, and color catchers for the dryer. Students may also choose to leave their dyed items at the studio to be rinsed, washed, and prepared for pickup the following week. This class is perfect for beginners, kids, families, and anyone who wants to make something colorful without needing any prior experience. Just bring your item, and we’ll provide the dye, tools, instruction, and creative chaos. Make sure items are 75% cotton and prewashed.
