Closed Terrarium class

Service Description

Create your own miniature living world in this hands-on two-hour terrarium class. Students will design and build a closed terrarium using a 17 oz rounded glass jar with a cork ball lid, creating a beautiful self-contained display perfect for a desk, shelf, windowsill, or gift. All supplies are included, including five varieties of terrarium plants, three types of moss, drainage stones, screen, substrate, larger decorative rocks, twigs, and natural materials for building depth and structure. Students will learn how each layer works together, from the drainage base to the planting surface, and how to create a balanced design that looks natural, interesting, and alive. During class, we’ll go over terrarium layout, plant placement, basic care, moisture control, and techniques for securing small items and keeping plants in place. Students will also learn how to use super glue safely and effectively to help attach decorative elements and create a more finished design. Students are welcome to bring small personal items to include in their terrarium, such as tiny figures, stones, shells, crystals, or other decorations. These items can also be added later at home. No experience is needed, and all materials required to build the terrarium are provided. Students will leave with a finished closed terrarium and the knowledge to care for their little glass world at home.
